The goal of the Clinical Laboratory at Putnam County Hospital is to provide high quality and efficient service to our patients, physicians, and community.  Laboratory services are provided 24 hours per day, seven days a week. 

Services and testing available in-house include:  General and Special Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Serology, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Blood Bank.  In addition, we have contracted with Mid America Clinical Laboratory in order to provide reference laboratory testing.

The College of American Pathologists (CAP) has awarded our laboratory full accreditation for all areas of testing.  The CAP is a worldwide organization that sets standards for laboratory performance.  Each year, 36 separate proficiency tests are performed that confirm the accuracy of the lab work performed at Putnam County Hospital.  Every 2 years, CAP confirms the excellence of testing in our laboratory through an in-depth, on-site inspection of the quality of testing being performed.
