At Putnam County Hospital, we want your birthing experience to be everything you have been dreaming about. Our primary concern is the care and well-being of both mother and infant during this magical time. You and your baby will be in the hands of our professional, skilled nursing staff. We will assist you by providing expert care, advice and support that you and your baby need.

Private Mother-Baby SuiteOur OB department features three (3) private birthing suites where you labor, deliver and recover in the same room. After delivery you and your baby will be transferred to a private mother-baby suite, which also provides sleeping arrangements  for your partner.

We also have a traditional nursery. Putnam County Hospital has a state of the art infant security system and our OB department is a locked unit, so any visitor must be identified and entry is regulated by our staff.

We also offer free prenatal classes and a breastfeeding support group.  For more information on Prenatal Classes and Moms & Babies Breastfeeding click on the appropriate link.

Recent Question

Are parenting classes available?

We currently do not offer parenting classes.  We offer prenatal classes which focus on what to expect through the pregnancy and immediately after you deliver.  This does include infant care.  After the baby is born there are several films our new parents watch and we offer demonstrations related to cord care, diapering and bathing.  You might check at the WIC office.  They sometimes have special classes or might be able to guide you to the right group.  I appreciate your question regarding parenting classes.  Please let us know if there is anything else we could do for you.  Our prenatal classes will be held during the months of March, May, July, and August in 2009.  They are on Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm.
