Putnam County Hospital's Physical Therapy Department continues to expand its services. Primarily an orthopedic-based service, the PT Department staff offers a wealth of services. These services include:

  • Comprehensive wound care (certified practitioners)
  • Comprehensive lymphedema management (certified practitioners)
  • Custom made foot orthotics (certified practitioners)
  • Manual therapy to include traction, myofascial release, mobilization using Mulligan, Paris, Maitland techniques, positional release techniques, decongestive lymphedema therapy (certified practitioners)
  • Special programs include:
    • Diabetic screening for the 'at risk' foot
    • Balance program using biofeedback apparatus
    • Active Therapy Movement using the ATM2 apparatus
    • Incontinence program (in development)
    • Falls screening program
    • Ergonomic assessment (in conjunction with the OT staff)
    • Work conditioning (in conjunction with the OT staff)

In addition to the specialized programs, the PT staff treats a variety of pre-operative and postoperative orthopedic and general surgical patients, both while in the hospital and as outpatients (check out our Swing Bed Program to see if we can assist you during your healing process).  Patients having neurological and musculoskeletal difficulties comprise the majority of the staffs' clients.

The Physical Therapy staff will be working with the Occupational Therapy staff in developing an Occupational Health program to serve not only PCH employees, but patients having work-related injuries from local industry.

The PT staff has over 90 years of combined experience among six full time and part time practitioners delivering the highest quality physical therapy care.
