Putnam County Cancer Center Earns Commission on Cancer Accreditation Through 2029 with Zero Deficiencies
Greencastle, Indiana — Putnam County Cancer Center is proud to announce it has received accreditation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC), a nationally recognized program dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for patients with cancer through standard-setting, prevention, research, education, and monitoring of comprehensive quality care.
The accreditation is valid through 2029 and was awarded with zero deficiencies, highlighting the center’s commitment to delivering the highest standards of patient-centered cancer care to the community.
The Commission on Cancer is a multidisciplinary accreditation program that has developed comprehensive standards for cancer programs to ensure patients receive coordinated, high-quality care. Cancer programs are evaluated against these rigorous standards to demonstrate compliance and their ongoing commitment to excellence in treatment and patient outcomes.
“Achieving Commission on Cancer accreditation with no deficiencies is a significant accomplishment for our team,” said Kayla McDermitt, Oncology Manager at Putnam County Cancer Center. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our physicians, nurses, and staff who work collaboratively every day to ensure patients in our community receive high-quality, compassionate cancer care close to home. We are proud of the work our team has done to meet these rigorous standards and remain committed to continually improving the care we provide.”
CoC-accredited programs treat more than 74 percent of newly diagnosed cancer patients in the United States each year, making the network one of the most significant collaborations focused on improving cancer care nationwide.
Through participation in the Commission on Cancer program, Putnam County Cancer Center will continue to enhance care and outcomes for patients by:
